Hieronymus Bosch - Northern Renaissance - Early Surrealism
Gothic Art in the North of Europe changed drastically with advances in technology, as well as advances in philosophy from the Italian Renaissance. Some of the masters of the Northern Renaissance Jan van Eyck Albrecht Dürer, Hieronymus Bosch, Hans Holbein, and Pieter Bruegel was the Northern equivalent of their southern counterpart’s masters in Italy.
The artists of the Northern Renaissance were true masters of their craft, and true masters of oil painting the representation was less anatomical or perspective biased though their technique and their attention to detail were magnificent.
